THE BIRMINGHAM COLLECTION.
While the Birmingham Public Libraries Committee do not claim the Catalogue of the Birmingham Collection to be a bibliography of the city, it is doubtful if so complete a work of its class has ever been issued by any other public authority. May we congratulate Mr. Walter Powell (chief librarian) and Mr. H. M. Cashmore (deputy chief librarian) upon the compilation of a volume by the aid of which a detailed history of the city at any period can be readily obtained.
The collection dealt with Includes books and pamphlets, manuscripts, maps, views and portraits relative to the life of the city from its earliest days down to the present time.
Mr. Howard S. Pearson (chairman of the Reference Library Book Sub-Committee) is responsible for an excellent historical introduction to the catalogue.
