LANCE-CORPORAL VICKERS, V.C., IN BIRMINGHAM.

PUBLIC RECEPTIONS IN WARWICKSHIRE TOWNS.

Lance-corporal Vickers, R. War. R., the Aston V.C., has arrived in Birmingham from Italy on leave, and in the next few days will have public receptions in Coventry, Warwick, Rugby, Tamworth, and Nuneaton, whilst arrangements are being made for a public reception in Birmingham on Sunday, when the R.A.M.C. band will play selections of music in some central place in the city. Lance-corporal Vickers has already been received by the Mayor of Leamington, and amongst the events being arranged in his honour is a victory ball at Warwick, Coventry, and Leamington. There is also to be a general parade of all men at Budbrook Barracks, the depot of the Warwickshire Regiment. Lance-corporal Vickers, who has throughout the campaign escaped being wounded, has been Italy the last fourteen months, and is extremely well in health. He is due back in Italy on the 28th, but an effort is being made to obtain a four weeks’ extension of leave. During the six weeks that the committee of the testimonial fund to the hero has been working £300 has been raised.
