Lecture: ‘Conscience, Service and Sacrifice: The Friends’ Ambulance Unit in the First World War’

Historian Paul Handford MBE will be talking on the experiences of those individuals, who for conscience and other reasons, chose to serve in the non-combatant Friends’ Ambulance Unit during World War I. The talk is supported by many original photographs from the private collection of Paul Handford.
Following the talk there will be an opportunity to browse original material from the collection of Laurence Cadbury, who was a member of the Friends’ Ambulance Unit, as well as other material relating to the First World War from the Cadbury Research Library collections. This talk accompanies the exhibition in Muirhead Atrium on The Friends’ Ambulance Unit in the First World War from 22 October 2014 to 30 January 2015.
