Event: Lord Mayor’s Show

This year’s Lord Mayor’s Show Commemorates the role of Women and Faith in the First World War. The Council House will be open to the public with Former Lord Mayors and Lady Mayoresses guiding the public around the building. The Council House basement will be open to the public where First World War Memorials are on display. The Edith Cavell Trust will have displays and workshops at the event, plus there will be knitting, embroidery and other craft workshops, and a recreation of a First World War office. The Travelling Museum will display military equipment and uniforms relating to the role of Muslim, Sikh and Hindu soldiers, and there will be talks in the Council House Chamber relating to the topic of Women and Faith. In Victoria Square The Band of the West Midlands Fire Service Band and the Midlands Military Community Choir will be performing. In the Banqueting Suite and Drawing Rooms there will be a vintage craft market and a tea room. There will also be an historic ‘fashion show’ throughout the day.
The event will be raising money for the Lord’s Mayor’s charities including:
Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity
Birmingham Children’s Hospital
Focus Birmingham
Sifa Fireside.
