Greyfriars' House and Garden, Worcestershire You've heard about the soldiers; now learn about the heroic medics of the First World War at Greyfriars' House and Garden. Built in 1480, with early seventeenth and eighteenth-century additions, this fine timber-framed house was rescued from demolition after the Second World War and has been carefully restored and refurbished. Born in Gloucestershire in 1888, F.W. Harvey became one of England’s most popular war poets, writing much of his work during the Great War. To mark the centenary of the start of World War 1, the Everyman Theatre presents a brand new adaptation of Harvey’s unpublished novel “Will Harvey’s War”. Commemorative Activities: Bickenhill Parish Council
Bickenhill Parish Council has arranged four activities to commemorate this major historical event and for residents to remember the sacrifice made by members of both the Bickenhill and Marston Green communities. For the first time in Great Britain, Brazilian artist Néle Azevedo creates a breath-taking display of over 5,000 figures made out of ice. Place one of the beautifully crafted ice sculptures on the steps of Chamberlain Square and be mesmerised as the sea of ice figures melt.
